Non-dystrophic myotonia (NDM) refers to a group of rare genetic disorders affecting skeletal muscle chloride or sodium ion channels. The most common symptom is myotonia, which is a delay in muscle relaxation and can lead to muscle locking and stiffness.

At Myballet Academy we have teamed up with Lupin NeuroScience to raise awareness of NDM.

This condition, although invisible, can seriously damage affected individuals’ lives. The common symptoms include muscle stiffness, transitory weakness, fatigue, and pain. Although rarely life-shortening, these myotonias cause life-time disability and affected individuals cannot perform many daily activities like the joy of dancing.
